Voter Registration

2024 Annual Committee Report

In 2024 the AVfC Voter Registration Committee operated a nonpartisan voter registration table at the following sites – Community Resource Days in Riverside Park, Saranac Lake and at the Horse show grounds in Lake Placid; at Paul Smiths College, twice at North Country Community College, at the John Brown Farm in Lake Placid, The Wild Center in Tupper Lake during the Youth Climate Summit. Margot Gold represented Voter Registration at the Adirondack Experience.

Our nonpartisan effort was turned away at both High Schools. We reached some high school students at Community Resource Days. 400 waterproof “Register to Vote” stickers were given out at various events, including at the Jamie Raskin gathering in Vermontville.

When tabling and at the Hub, numerous handouts explained the when, where, and how around voting in the north country. Stephanie Gubelin developed two interactive games which effectively engaged young and old. 1) Spin the wheel for a number which corresponds to an issue about voting which is then read and discussed. 2) Ask the public to choose their top 3 issues in this election by dropping poker chips in jars that were labeled with issues. The results were tallied at each event.
