2024 Annual Report
AVfC Local Assistance Fund (LAF) Income and Allocations in 2024
LAF balance going into 2024 was $655. Income via member donations for the LAF in 2024 was $1,310.94. Allocations to the community in 2024 totaled $1,650, leaving a balance in the LAF at the end of the year of $315.94. (Note that the Local Assistance Committee was dormant for much of 2024 due to work being done to convert AVfC to a 501(c)(4) corporation and the focus on operation of the AVfC HUB).
- 2/5/24 A $400 gift card to be used at the Village Mercantile for a Vermontville family whose home was destroyed by fire.
- 5/4/24 $200 was allocated to the Grace Pantry in Saranac Lake for the purchase of needed personal hygiene items.
- 5/12/24 A $350 gift card to be used at the Village Mercantile for a woman and her grandson who were displaced by a fire in Bloomingdale.
- 11/20/24 $300 in gift cards ($100 to the Village and $50 to Nori’s to each of two students) were given to two Saranac Lake high school students (a brother and sister, currently living apart with neighbors) who lost all their belongings in a fire. Gift cards were delivered to the Saranac Lake Community Schools Program who distributed them to the students.
- 12/19/24 $150 in gift cards ($100 for Amazon, $25 for Nori’s and $25 for the Owl’s Nest) to a Saranac Lake high school student. Gift cards were delivered to the SL Community Schools Program for distribution to the student.
- 12/19/24 $250 in gift cards ($50 to Goody Goody’s, $50 to Amazon and $25 to Stewart’s to each of two students) were given to two Saranac Lake middle school students. The gift cards were delivered to the SL Community Schools Program.
A sample of recent “thank-you notes” to the AVfC for allocations to students whose needs were recommended to the AVfC by the SL Community Schools Program and school administrators.
