How to vote absentee

A. Mail your ballot. Here are the deadlines for absentee ballots to be postmarked in each state.

B. Return it in person. Did you know that almost every state allows absentee ballots to be returned in person to the election office? * And many states provide drop boxes and other options to return ballots in person. Find out how & where to drop off your ballot in your state.

C. Have a relative or friend return your ballot for you. Restrictions vary from state to state, but many states allow sealed ballots to be returned by someone other than the voter. Check the regulations for your state, here.

*At least one state, Missouri, provides two different at-home voting options, mail-in and absentee. The rules for returning the ballot differs for each option. Here’s more info on the subject.
